HUBLI: Rajiv Dixit of Azadi Bachao Andolan said here on Wednesday that the andolan has appealed to all State governments and the Union Government to come out with a law on cow slaughter at the earliest in the wake of the Supreme Court order regarding ban on cow slaughter. Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Dixit said framing the law has been necessitated with the Supreme Court upholding the ban on cow slaughter and directing the Union and State Governments to frame laws within six months. ...Elaborating on how a cow can contribute to the economy of the nation, Mr. Dixit said a cow can bring revenue of Rs. 2 lakhs per annum if properly used. He said cow dung could be used to produce methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide. Medicines for human consumption can be manufactured out of cow's urine and it can also be used as a pesticide. All these points were brought to the notice of the Supreme Court, which ultimately resulted in the court upholding the ban on cow slaughter, he said.
